Our SHERO: Lauren Murray

Introducing our PALETTE SHEROES

We have a little something at Palette we call a SHERO, which is a member or other community partner who is able to help out with the financial side of membership. If you’re reading this, you’re in exactly the right place to meet an amazing individual who is committed to helping others to learn and grow. We’re so pleased to introduce you to Lauren Murray!

Tell us who you are and what is your business. What is your business’s mission?
About The Murray Group: We’re an independent insurance agency offering a comprehensive suite of insurance solutions to protect you from the unexpected. We don’t just sell insurance. We work closely with our clients to help them make important and information decisions every day when it comes to protection and their futures.

Why did you decide to become a Palette SHERO?
I was blessed to be step into a 50-year old family business and did not have to start from scratch. I truly applaud and support any woman who is working her hardest to make her dreams come true. It’s an immensely difficult task to get a business off the ground and make it a success.

Why is giving back important to you?
Giving back is a way for us to thank our surrounding community for supporting our family business for many years. But, it also just makes my family feel good. We lost a mother and a brother far too young to cancer, so we mostly focus our philanthropic efforts on cancer research. When we see how far cancer treatments, especially for blood cancer, have come in the past few years, it makes us realize that any contribution we make, large or small, moves the needle in the right direction.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten?
Be yourself, whether that’s in your business or personal life.

Is there anything else that you’d like to share?
I am a twin! I have a twin sister, Bridget, who is part of the family business with me. Not only do we work together, but we are now neighbors, too. I just bought a house across the street from her a couple of weeks ago. Our mom never tested us to find out if we are identical or fraternal, but most people think we look exactly alike.

The loves of my life are my boys Duke, 10, and Colt, 8. We share a love of sports, especially basketball and baseball.

I love to workout in my free time. I think lifting weights, especially, has improved my self confidence in all aspects of my life.
